The St Albans International Organ Festival is very happy to be returning to Kingsbury Barn, St Michael's for the second of its Art Exhibitions. It was generally agreed that the last one held in July 2011 was an outstanding success and so there is to be a repeat of the event but not of the contents. Some artists will be back, however, including locals, Dione Verulam, Virginia Corbett and Linda Smith but also some new faces such as Slade-trained Alex de Rivaz and Carolyn Attewill from Oxfordshire. This year the organisers are not restricting themselves to paintings. We have commissioned Diane Maclean to create a sculpture that will be suspended from the roof of the barn. There will be more sculptural pieces from Dick Onians and Tessa Cole, who will be showing her outdoor works. And that is not all; we are looking forward to displaying the icon paintings of Derek Bird and furniture by the master craftsman, Roland Tagg. Also on display will be the exquisite ceramics of Carolyn Baggaley; Lyn Hirschowitz will be exhibiting her exuberant coloured prints of Italy and the highly regarded Robert Baggaley will be back with his thought- provoking work.
We very much hope that the people of St Michael's will come to support and enjoy our exhibition. Entrance is free and it will run from 11th July – 20th July, 11am – 5pm. It will also be open on several evenings, yet to be announced.
