Another year and another super warm early July evening for this annual event, even if the sun did not actually shine. It was good to see a mix of regular dancers and newer entries to the event.
In the grounds of The Rose and Crown, The Ver Players, the ukulele group from St Albans, entertained a large crowd for much of the evening. Their lively music included, supposedly, St Albans most famous song ’She’s not there’ by The Zombies and was much appreciated by the audience.
The Swanvesta Social Club is an Anglo Cuban band based in St Albans. Their repertoire ranges from traditional Latin American to Cuban interpretations of modern music. St Michael’s churchyard provided the perfect setting for listening to their music, for dancing or for just chatting to friends.
Both bands added greatly to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the folk evening.
